Traditional table salts go through a LOT of processing before they make it to your salt shaker – in fact, they often grind down the salt crystals to be so fine, that they need to add anti-clumping agents just to keep the crystals from caking.
Not only that, but they are often stripped of important minerals. The more natural “exotic” salts – like pink Himalayan salt – keep all of those minerals intact. Pink Himalayan salt gets its color from the trace amount of iron it contains, and it also contains minerals like calcium, potassium and magnesium… which means it naturally has slightly less sodium than table salt.
